Bicycles for the Savannah Baptist Center

September 11, 1999 (First bike workshop of 1999)

Southside RA's, counselors, and dads gathered on a Saturday morning to begin working on bicycles for one of our annual mission projects. Each year, Southside RA's collect unwanted bicycles from donors, make needed repairs, clean them up, "test drive" them, and get them ready for delivery to the Savannah Baptist Center. Usually, the delivery is made a week or two before Christmas, but due to a large number of bicycles already on hand, the RA's had to get an early start this year. The Baptist Center makes these bikes available at minimal cost, or free, to families who want to give their child a bicycle for Christmas, but may not have the means to purchase a new one. Southside RA's and the Savannah Baptist Center have collaborated on this mission effort for several years and hope to continue it in the future.
